OVERVIEW

What This Means for You

Fawtara e-invoices follow PINT OM, the Omani specification of the Peppol International invoice model, which is based on UBL XML. Some businesses prefer to produce this XML themselves from their own systems, especially where they already work with XML or EDI.

We help you build or validate the XML: mapping your data to PINT OM elements, applying code lists, handling tax categories and checking the result against the schema and business rules before it reaches your accredited service provider.

XML integrations are often file-based. Your system writes XML files to a secure location or sends them through an API, and statuses come back in a structured form. We design naming, folders, retries and archiving so nothing is lost.

Because errors in XML can be hard to read, we also set up clear validation reports, so your team can see exactly which field caused a problem and how to fix it.

CAPABILITIES

What XML Integration Covers

PINT OM mapping

Your data mapped to the correct XML elements and code lists.

Schema validation

Each file is checked against the schema and business rules.

Secure transfer

Files exchanged by API or secure file transfer.

Readable error reports

Clear explanations of any validation failure.

COMMON CHALLENGES

What Usually Gets in the Way

These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.

01

Detailed specification

PINT OM has many elements and conditional rules.

02

Code lists

Units, tax categories and reasons must use the right codes.

03

Hard-to-read errors

Raw validation messages are difficult for finance teams.

04

File handling

Lost or duplicate files cause gaps in compliance.

THE FAWTARA MODEL

How Oman E-Invoicing Works

Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.

Step 1

You issue the invoice

In your ERP, accounting or billing system.

Step 2

It is validated

Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.

Step 3

Your provider sends it

Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.

Step 4

The buyer receives it

Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.

Step 5

The OTA is informed

Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.

HOW IT WORKS

How We Implement It

01

Scope the flow

We document the systems, data and approvals involved in your invoicing.

02

Design the mapping

Fields, rules and exceptions are defined against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.

03

Build and test

The connection is built and tested with real invoices, including the edge cases.

04

Run and monitor

After go-live, statuses and exceptions are monitored so nothing is missed.

Clear errors

Validation reports explain what is wrong in plain terms.

Works with your tools

Fits existing XML, EDI or integration platforms.

FAQS

Common Questions

Is PINT OM the same as UBL?+

PINT OM is based on UBL XML and the Peppol International model, with Omani-specific rules and code lists.

Can we generate the XML ourselves?+

Yes. We provide the mapping and validation, and your system can produce the XML if you prefer to keep it in-house.

How are validation errors reported?+

We set up readable reports that show the field, the rule and the fix, not only the raw error code.

Which format do Omani e-invoices use?+

Fawtara uses PINT OM, the Omani specification of the Peppol International invoice model, exchanged as structured XML through an accredited service provider.

Can our system connect directly to the Oman Tax Authority?+

No. Under the five-corner model, e-invoices travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA.

How long does an integration take?+

It depends on your system, the number of invoice types and the quality of your data. We give you a dated plan after the assessment, working back from your Fawtara phase.
