OMAN E-INVOICING · BY INDUSTRY
Fawtara includes B2C sales, so retailers need compliant e-invoices for every sale. We connect your POS and back-office systems so it happens automatically, at the till and online.

OVERVIEW
Unlike some other e-invoicing systems in the region, Fawtara covers sales to consumers as well as businesses. For a retailer, that means every receipt at the till, every online order and every refund needs to be issued in a way that meets Fawtara requirements, at the speed your stores operate.
Retail invoicing runs through many systems: point of sale in each store, an e-commerce platform, a loyalty programme and a back-office ERP. We look at where each sale is recorded and design one flow that turns all of them into compliant e-invoices, without slowing down the checkout.
Under Ministerial Decision 189/2026, VAT-registered businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million go live on 1 April 2027 and all other VAT-registered businesses on 1 October 2027, after a pilot with around 100 selected companies that started in August 2026. Both B2B and B2C invoices are in scope, and e-invoices must be archived electronically for ten years. Retail chains above OMR 5 million in annual supplies go live in April 2027; smaller retailers in October 2027.
Webtel works with your finance and IT teams from the first review of your invoices to the first weeks after go-live. We map your data to PINT OM, connect your system to an accredited service provider and test real scenarios, so your team keeps invoicing the way it does today while every invoice meets Fawtara requirements.
CAPABILITIES
Store sales are captured from your POS and issued as e-invoices.
E-commerce orders follow the same compliant process as store sales.
Returns and exchanges are issued as credit notes linked to the original sale.
B2B sales at the counter include the buyer's VAT number and details.
COMMON CHALLENGES
These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.
01
Checkout cannot wait for slow external calls, so the design must keep the till fast.
02
POS, e-commerce and ERP each hold part of the sales data.
03
Discounts must appear correctly on each e-invoice line.
04
Tills that lose connection need a safe way to catch up.
THE FAWTARA MODEL
Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.
Step 1
In your ERP, accounting or billing system.
Step 2
Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
Step 3
Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.
Step 4
Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.
Step 5
Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.

See It in a Demo →WHY IT MATTERS
Every in-scope invoice is issued in the PINT OM format from your go-live date.
Data is checked before it leaves your system, not after a buyer or the OTA flags it.
E-invoices are stored electronically, ready for audits and OTA requests.
Compliance runs in the background, so queues don't grow.
Store, online and head-office figures line up.
Opening a branch does not mean a new project.

FAQS
Yes. Fawtara covers B2C as well as B2B transactions, which is why retailers need to plan for every sale, not only business invoices.
In most cases, yes. We check how your POS records and sends sales and connect it to the e-invoicing flow.
The design includes a safe catch-up process, so sales made offline are issued correctly once the connection returns.

No. Fawtara uses a five-corner model, so e-invoices are exchanged through an accredited service provider. Your system connects to the provider, which delivers the invoice and passes the tax data to the OTA.
Usually not. Most ERP and accounting systems can be connected to an accredited service provider. We check your system and recommend the simplest route.
