OVERVIEW
Most e-invoice rejections are caused by data, not technology: a missing buyer VAT number, a tax category that does not match the rate, a unit of measure that is not on the code list or totals that do not add up. Under Fawtara, these errors stop invoices from being delivered.
Our data validation service works in two stages. Before go-live, we run a readiness review of your master data and a sample of real invoices, list every gap and help your team fix it. After go-live, automated checks run on every invoice before it leaves your system.
Checks cover the areas that matter most for PINT OM: buyer and seller identifiers, tax categories and exemption reasons, code lists for units and currencies, invoice references for credit notes and arithmetic at line and invoice level.
Results are reported in plain language, by owner, so the people who maintain customer data, tax setup or billing know exactly what to change.
CAPABILITIES
Seller and buyer VAT numbers and other identifiers.
Tax categories, rates and exemption reasons.
Units of measure, currencies and other codes.
Line, tax and invoice totals add up correctly.
COMMON CHALLENGES
These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.
01
Customer records may be incomplete or outdated.
02
Tax codes may not map cleanly to categories.
03
Small differences can cause validation failures.
04
Nobody may be responsible for data quality.
THE FAWTARA MODEL
Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.
Step 1
In your ERP, accounting or billing system.
Step 2
Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
Step 3
Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.
Step 4
Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.
Step 5
Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.
HOW IT WORKS
We document the systems, data and approvals involved in your invoicing.
Fields, rules and exceptions are defined against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
The connection is built and tested with real invoices, including the edge cases.
After go-live, statuses and exceptions are monitored so nothing is missed.
WORKED EXAMPLE
How a readiness review reduces rejections before the first live invoice.
See It in a Demo →WHY IT MATTERS
Every in-scope invoice is issued in the PINT OM format from your go-live date.
Data is checked before it leaves your system, not after a buyer or the OTA flags it.
E-invoices are stored electronically, ready for audits and OTA requests.
Issues are fixed before they become rejections.
Each issue goes to the person who can fix it.
Clean data helps reporting and collections too.
IN DETAIL
BEFORE YOU GO LIVE
Having these ready before the assessment shortens the project and keeps your Fawtara go-live on schedule. Our free Fawtara readiness checklist is a good place to start.
