OVERVIEW
Nizwa is the largest city of Ad Dakhiliyah and a historic centre of trade in Oman's interior. Its businesses include traders, retailers, building material suppliers, agricultural and date producers, tourism and heritage businesses, and service firms supporting the surrounding towns.
Many businesses in Nizwa are small and medium-sized and will be in the October 2027 Fawtara phase. For them, the right approach is usually simple: connect the accounting software already in use, or adopt a practical e-invoicing tool, and train the team. We work remotely, so distance from Muscat is not a barrier.
Under Ministerial Decision 189/2026, VAT-registered businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million go live on 1 April 2027 and all other VAT-registered businesses on 1 October 2027, after a pilot with around 100 selected companies that started in August 2026. Both B2B and B2C invoices are in scope, and e-invoices must be archived electronically for ten years.
Webtel supports businesses in Nizwa remotely, with on-site visits where they help, such as workshops and go-live. We map your data to PINT OM, connect your systems to an accredited service provider and test real invoices, so you are ready on your phase date.
CAPABILITIES
Shops, distributors and building material suppliers.
Date producers and food businesses.
Hotels, guesthouses and tour operators.
Contractors and service firms across the region.
COMMON CHALLENGES
These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.
01
Finance is often handled by one or two people.
02
Some businesses still issue invoices from Word or Excel.
03
There may be no in-house IT team to manage integration.
04
Specialist help may seem far away.
THE FAWTARA MODEL
Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.
Step 1
In your ERP, accounting or billing system.
Step 2
Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
Step 3
Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.
Step 4
Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.
Step 5
Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.
