OVERVIEW
Connecting a system to Fawtara is the first step. The bigger long-term benefit comes from automating everything around it: issuing e-invoices without manual steps, catching errors early, routing rejections to the right person and reconciling what was sent with what was booked.
We design automation around your process. E-invoices can be triggered when a document is posted or on a schedule, validated automatically, sent through your accredited service provider and tracked until they are delivered. Only exceptions reach your team.
Rejections and errors are routed to the people who can fix them, with the reason and the next step. Daily reconciliation compares invoices in your ERP with statuses from your provider, so nothing slips through, even at month end.
Automation also covers incoming e-invoices from your suppliers, which can be received, matched to purchase orders and passed for approval with fewer manual checks.
CAPABILITIES
E-invoices are issued automatically from posted documents.
Data is checked before sending, with clear errors.
Rejections go to the right owner with the reason.
Sent invoices are matched with ERP records every day.
COMMON CHALLENGES
These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.
01
Teams may rely on spreadsheets and email to track invoices.
02
Rejections can sit unresolved without a clear owner.
03
Peaks make manual checking impractical.
04
Supplier e-invoices also need processing and approval.
THE FAWTARA MODEL
Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.
Step 1
In your ERP, accounting or billing system.
Step 2
Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
Step 3
Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.
Step 4
Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.
Step 5
Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.
HOW IT WORKS
We document the systems, data and approvals involved in your invoicing.
Fields, rules and exceptions are defined against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.
The connection is built and tested with real invoices, including the edge cases.
After go-live, statuses and exceptions are monitored so nothing is missed.

How automation handles an invoice rejected for a missing VAT number.
See It in a Demo →WHY IT MATTERS
Every in-scope invoice is issued in the PINT OM format from your go-live date.
Data is checked before it leaves your system, not after a buyer or the OTA flags it.
E-invoices are stored electronically, ready for audits and OTA requests.
Your team works on exceptions, not every invoice.
Dashboards show what was sent, delivered or stuck.
Incoming e-invoices are matched and approved sooner.
IN DETAIL
BEFORE YOU GO LIVE
Having these ready before the assessment shortens the project and keeps your Fawtara go-live on schedule. Our free Fawtara readiness checklist is a good place to start.
