OVERVIEW

What This Means for You

SAP is the most common ERP among large businesses in Oman, from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business One for mid-sized companies. Whatever your version, Fawtara needs the same outcome: every in-scope invoice must leave SAP as a PINT OM e-invoice, travel through an accredited service provider and come back with a status.

Webtel connects SAP using standard interfaces, such as IDocs, OData and web services, or SAP Integration Suite if you already use it. The right option depends on your release, hosting and existing middleware. Your billing process stays the same; e-invoicing runs alongside it.

Most SAP e-invoicing work is about data. Tax codes, customer VAT numbers, units of measure and billing types must all map cleanly to PINT OM. We review real billing documents early, so gaps are found and fixed during the project, not during go-live week.

We also plan how your team works with e-invoices in SAP: who monitors rejections, how corrections are made and how statuses are shown, so the process runs smoothly from the first day of your Fawtara phase.

CAPABILITIES

What the SAP Integration Covers

Invoices and notes

Billing documents, credit memos and debit memos are converted to PINT OM.

Master data checks

Delivery and rejection statuses are shown against the SAP document.

Standard interfaces

No modification of SAP standard code.

COMMON CHALLENGES

What Usually Gets in the Way

These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.

01

Tax codes built for returns

Existing tax codes may need a clear mapping to Fawtara tax categories.

02

Many billing types

Invoices, credit memos, down payments and intercompany billing behave differently.

03

Release calendars

The project must fit SAP transport and testing cycles.

04

ECC end of support

Some groups need a solution that works now and after a move to S/4HANA.

THE FAWTARA MODEL

How Oman E-Invoicing Works

Fawtara, the Oman Tax Authority's e-invoicing programme, uses a Peppol-based five-corner model. Invoices are issued in the PINT OM format and travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA. Invoices cannot be sent from an ERP directly to the OTA.

Step 1

You issue the invoice

In your ERP, accounting or billing system.

Step 2

It is validated

Checked against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.

Step 3

Your provider sends it

Your accredited service provider exchanges it over Peppol.

Step 4

The buyer receives it

Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.

Step 5

The OTA is informed

Tax data reaches the Oman Tax Authority through Fawtara.

HOW IT WORKS

How We Implement It

01

Scope the flow

We document the systems, data and approvals involved in your invoicing.

02

Design the mapping

Fields, rules and exceptions are defined against PINT OM and Omani VAT rules.

03

Build and test

The connection is built and tested with real invoices, including the edge cases.

04

Run and monitor

After go-live, statuses and exceptions are monitored so nothing is missed.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Example: One SAP Billing Document

How an SAP customer invoice becomes a delivered Fawtara e-invoice.

See It in a Demo →
  1. 1 Billing document createdYour team creates the invoice in SAP as usual.
  2. 2 Data extractedInvoice, customer and tax data is read through a standard interface.
  3. 3 Converted and validatedThe data is converted to PINT OM and checked against Fawtara rules.
  4. 4 Sent through your providerYour accredited service provider delivers it and passes the data to the OTA.
  5. 5 Status back in SAPThe status is recorded against the billing document.

WHY IT MATTERS

What You Gain

Ready on your phase date

Every in-scope invoice is issued in the PINT OM format from your go-live date.

Fewer rejections

Data is checked before it leaves your system, not after a buyer or the OTA flags it.

Ten-year archive

E-invoices are stored electronically, ready for audits and OTA requests.

No core modification

Standard interfaces keep your system's upgrade path clean.

Status where you work

Delivery and rejection statuses are visible in your own system.

Ready for S/4HANA

The same approach works if you move from ECC to S/4HANA.

FAQS

Common Questions

Do we need SAP Document and Reporting Compliance?+

Not necessarily. Some businesses use SAP's own compliance product and others use an external integration. We assess your release and licences and recommend the route that fits.

Can you support ECC and S/4HANA in the same group?+

Yes. Both can be connected to the same Fawtara flow, which is common during a migration.

Will the billing run slow down?+

No. E-invoices are processed after billing, so your billing run completes as it does today.

Which format do Omani e-invoices use?+

Fawtara uses PINT OM, the Omani specification of the Peppol International invoice model, exchanged as structured XML through an accredited service provider.

Can our system connect directly to the Oman Tax Authority?+

No. Under the five-corner model, e-invoices travel through an accredited service provider, which delivers them to the buyer and passes the tax data to the OTA.

How long does an integration take?+

It depends on your system, the number of invoice types and the quality of your data. We give you a dated plan after the assessment, working back from your Fawtara phase.
