OVERVIEW

What This Means for You

Healthcare billing is different from most industries. Providers bill insurance companies, corporate clients and individual patients, often from a dedicated hospital information system, with a mix of VAT treatments across services and medicines.

Webtel reviews who you bill and how, sets up e-invoicing for the business-to-business transactions that are in scope, such as invoices to insurers and corporate accounts, and connects your billing system so compliant e-invoices are issued automatically.

Healthcare providers work with insurers that have their own claims and payment processes. E-invoicing adds a structured invoice to that relationship, so it is important to agree how invoices relate to claims, approvals and adjustments.

Hospitals and clinics also buy large volumes of medicines, consumables and equipment. As suppliers go live, incoming e-invoices can be matched to purchase orders and received goods, reducing manual work in procurement and finance.

COMMON CHALLENGES

What Usually Gets in the Way

These are the issues we see most often. Each one is planned for from the start, so it does not surface in the week before go-live.

Insurer processes

Invoices must align with claims, approvals and later adjustments.

02

Separate billing systems

Patient billing often happens outside the ERP.

03

Mixed tax treatments

Different services and items may be taxed differently.

04

Multi-site groups

Several hospitals or clinics with separate entities.

THE UAE MODEL

How UAE E-Invoicing Works

The UAE uses a decentralised, Peppol-based "five-corner" model. Your invoice is created in your own system, validated and delivered by accredited service providers, and its tax data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) as part of the same exchange.

Step 1

You create the invoice

In your ERP, accounting or billing system.

Step 2

It is validated

Checked against PINT AE and UAE rules.

Step 3

Your provider sends it

Your accredited service provider (ASP) exchanges it over Peppol.

Step 4

The buyer receives it

Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.

Step 5

The FTA is informed

Tax data is reported to the FTA.

FAQS

Common Questions

Do patient bills need to become e-invoices?+

Consumer (B2C) transactions are not part of the first UAE phases. We confirm your scope against the latest FTA guidance and focus on the in-scope B2B invoices.

Can you connect our hospital information system?+

Yes. We connect the system that produces your invoices, whether that is an HIS, a billing system or your ERP.

How are mixed VAT treatments handled?+

Each line is mapped to its tax category, so one invoice can correctly carry services and items with different VAT treatments.

Do invoices to insurers need patient details?+

E-invoices carry the data required by the UAE specification. We design the content carefully so that only what is needed is included.

How are rejected claims reflected?+

When a claim is adjusted after invoicing, a credit or debit note is issued as an e-invoice.

Can different clinics share one setup?+

Yes. Each entity keeps its own TRN and numbering within one setup.
