OVERVIEW

What This Means for You

Contractors rarely issue a simple invoice. Billing follows certified progress claims, with retentions held back, advance payments recovered and variations added along the way. Under UAE e-invoicing, each of these invoices must be issued correctly in PINT AE and exchanged through an accredited service provider.

Webtel works with your commercial and finance teams to map every billing scenario on your projects, so the e-invoice matches the certified claim and the VAT treatment is right from the first submission.

Construction projects run for months or years, and invoices are linked to contracts, certificates and payment terms. E-invoices need to carry those references so clients can approve them quickly, and so your commercial team can trace each one back to the certified claim.

Main contractors also receive invoices from many subcontractors and suppliers. As they go live, those invoices will arrive as e-invoices, making it easier to match them to purchase orders, measured work and claims before payment.

THE UAE MODEL

How UAE E-Invoicing Works

The UAE uses a decentralised, Peppol-based "five-corner" model. Your invoice is created in your own system, validated and delivered by accredited service providers, and its tax data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) as part of the same exchange.

Step 1

You create the invoice

In your ERP, accounting or billing system.

Step 2

It is validated

Checked against PINT AE and UAE rules.

Step 3

Your provider sends it

Your accredited service provider (ASP) exchanges it over Peppol.

Step 4

The buyer receives it

Delivered to the buyer's own service provider and system.

Step 5

The FTA is informed

Tax data is reported to the FTA.

FAQS

Common Questions

How are retentions shown on an e-invoice?+

We agree the treatment with your finance team and tax advisers, then map it consistently, so each e-invoice matches the certified amount and the VAT position.

Can e-invoices carry project and contract references?+

Yes. Project, contract and claim references are carried on each invoice so your client can match it to their records.

We receive many subcontractor invoices. What changes?+

In-scope subcontractors will send e-invoices through Peppol. We set up how they are received and matched against your purchase orders and claims.

How are variations invoiced?+

Variations are included in the claim or invoiced separately, depending on your contract. We map both approaches to PINT AE.

What about retention release?+

Retention release invoices are mapped as their own scenario, referencing the project and original claims.

Can we include supporting documents?+

Supporting documents can be shared alongside the e-invoice where the process allows. We agree how this works for your clients.
